Sunday Social & Weekend Recap!

Hi everyone! The last week hasn't been the easiest, so I am glad that we were able to take this weekend to relax, have a good time, and recharge. More on that after this week's questions!

What is the most difficult thing you have been through?
Last week, my family was in North Carolina to be with my grandmother. She suffered a massive stroke last Tuesday and hasn't been well since. It was difficult seeing her in her condition, but I'm glad I could spend time with her before we came home.

What was your best birthday?
I've had a lot of really fun birthday celebrations, but the two that come to mind are 7th grade (turning 13) and 12th grade (turning 18). For my 13th, a few friends and I went horseback riding and did a trail ride at a local barn. It was in the middle of my "I love horses" phase, and I was the only one of us who didn't ride horses. For my 18th, my parents took me and my dear friend Ruth to see Trans-Siberian Orchestra in concert in Philly. It was awesome. They really know how to put on a show.

What has been your favorite thing you've done in your own city?
Philly is rich in history, as it is where the U.S. Constitution was written. It's home to the Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, the Betsy Ross House, the famed Philadelphia Art Museum, and so much more. It's really fun to spend a day seeing all of the historical sights, and other "touristy" stuff, like the Love sculpture and Reading Terminal Market.

What is your idea of a perfect date night?
I've had a lot of really awesome date nights (and date days!), so it's hard to pick which would be perfect! I do like going fun places, like small day trips. A few weekends ago, Kevin and I went down to a small town on the Chesapeake called North East, MD. It's a really cute town with a great crab house called Woody's. I'm not a crab person, so I stuck with fish and chips. Kevin said the crab was delicious, so I'll take his word on that.

Have you ever been to a blogging conference? If so, which one(s)? If not, do you want to go?
I have never attended a blogging conference, and absolutely yes I would love to go to one someday. I have only ever heard wonderful things about people's experiences at them, and I would love to see that for myself. Maybe after grad school? I would love to hear y'alls input and stories about them!

And now weekend stuff!
My best friend Jordan came up to Philly for the weekend to visit! We hadn't seen each other since returning from Europe back in June, which is much too long for us. We spent yesterday in New York City exploring and seeing Disney's Aladdin on Broadway! We were fortunate to see Tony Award winner James Monroe Iglehart as the Genie, and original voice actor Jonathan Freeman on stage as Jafar! Y'all, it was amazing. I cried during "A Whole New World" and sang along to every word of "Friend Like Me" and "One Jump Ahead."

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Crab is one of my favourite things to eat. We have it with curry here and it is divine. I am getting hungry just thinking about it. :)
