Confessions of a Non-Baseball Fan

#ConfessYourUnpopularOpinion: I really dislike baseball.

Yesterday was Opening Day, and I felt like I was the only person who wasn't going crazy. Baseball has just never been my "thing." When we lived in Atlanta, we used to go to Braves games on the 4th of July, and those were fun. I liked being at the games, and the atmosphere of Turner Field was absolutely fantastic. But I just cannot bring myself to watch it on TV. Saying "it's not the same" is kind of a "duh" thing to say, but it's true. I've tried watching baseball, and I always end up switching the channel after an inning or two. Even when the Phillies won the World Series in 2008, I didn't get excited, as nearly everyone at my high school did. I just couldn't.

Not liking baseball always makes me feel left out this time of year. Now, my friend Daniel and my boyfriend are determined to change that. Daniel is a Red Sox fan (and writer), and Kevin grew up a Yankees fan (so that's a fun dynamic), and the more time I spend around them, the more I slowly sponge off of their baseball knowledge and fandom. Kevin swears that he'll turn me into a baseball fan (and hockey fan) by this season. We'll see if that happens. Maybe I just need to pick a team to follow and invest in, and that'll help?

I'll say right now, that team will (more than likely) not be the Red Sox or Yankees. So, if Kevin and Daniel are reading this...don't even try. :)

Happy baseball season, y'all.
