Sunday Social {The Last One!}

Happy Sunday everyone! I'm sad that today is the final Sunday Social, because it's been so fun dropping in and "meeting" a bunch of new blog friends. I'm excited for whatever Ashley and Neely have up their sleeves for November...it's bound to be awesome.

Anyway...for the last day, they dug up the questions from their very first Sunday Social from over two years ago.

1. How did you come up with your blog name?
The first iteration of my blog was called "On a Lighter Note," and it focused on "the little things" during my days that made me smile. Over time, that theme grew itself out and I needed to rebrand. "A Thought and a Half" came to me as I was brainstorming ideas with a friend. I liked it, so it stuck.

2. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
I love discovering new blogs and learning about what other people blog about. Bloggers have so many different interests and niches. I always look for opportunities to learn something new, and I've learned so much from following blogs.

3. What is one thing you have discovered through blogging that you now can't live without?
Craft and recipe ideas! Y'all don't know how many of y'alls projects and meals have inspired things I've tried myself.

4. Facebook or Twitter? Why?
I like both for different reasons. I use Facebook for sharing photos and talking with friends and family, but Twitter is a great news source. Microblogging is also just fun.

5. If one celebrity read your blog, who would you want it to be?
J.J. Watt. /swoon
Does that count? If not...well, I'm not really sure.

6. What is something you want people to know about your blog?
My blog is me, through and through. It's me on a webpage.

Happy Sunday! Thanks Ashley & Neely for hosting this awesome linkup! It's been fun!

Sunday Social Favorites!

Happy Sunday! Today's Sunday Social asks about some favorites. Y'all know how it goes!

Favorite scent?
I tend to like floral scents, especially roses and magnolias. And fresh-out-of-the-oven cookies or brownies or breads.

Favorite food?
Oh my goodness. Too many. Barbecue, fruits (especially berries), chicken parmesan, banana bread. I can't pick just one!

Lexington-style 'cue from Prissy Polly's in Kernersville. Mmmmmmm.

Favorite sound?
I don't know if this would my all-time favorite, but it ranks up there: the sound of a violin, especially when it's playing one of my old favorite concertos or sonatas.

Favorite picture currently on your phone?
This one of my kitty:

Best memory of the year so far?
So many! 2014 has treated me very well. Graduation weekend was a ton of fun, and then two weeks in Europe, getting into grad school, being at grad school...how can I pick just one?

And now, to spend the rest of my weekend reading and watching some football!

Happy Sunday!

Sunday Social!

Happy Sunday, everyone! My first semester of iMedia starts on Tuesday, so I'm using these next couple of days to get my last little bit of relaxation in before academia takes over yet again. Also, the US Open starts tomorrow, and I'm so excited for two weeks of awesome tennis.

1. What are you most looking forward to about fall?
Football! VT named Michael Brewer (transfer from Texas Tech) its starting QB yesterday, and I cannot wait to see his debut against William & Mary next weekend. Also, fall fashion...I love cardigans and scarves and thick, chunky sweaters, and increasingly leggings. And boots. And plaid.

2. What is/are your favorite sports team(s)?
VT Hokies, UNC Tar Heels (for basketball more than football), and Houston Texans!

VT starting QB Michael Brewer!

3. If you could go back to college, is there anything you would change?
I've often thought that I'd change my major/minor combination. I did a double major in communication and English, and maybe I'd do a single major in communication with a double minor in English and Spanish. I studied Spanish in high school and loved it, and I missed taking a language in college. I'm glad I did what I did, of course, but if I could change anything, maybe I'd give that a try.

4. What was your favorite class you ever took, HS or college?
I really loved a poetry class I took my junior year of college. I wasn't that great at writing poetry, but I had a wonderful professor and an awesome group of people in the class. I also took a really great Communications Campaigns class my junior year, in which we developed a PR campaign for an actual non-profit organization. It was great experience and a ton of fun (mostly).

5. Reach into your purse: what's the first thing you pull out?
Chapstick. Always. You can never have too much of it. And since my dad works in pharmaceuticals, I literally always have it on me, and always have at least three backups at home.

Also, I updated my "about me" page, so take a look and let me know what you think! It's much simpler than it was before.

Happy Sunday, y'all!

Happy Sunday Social!

Good morning and Happy Sunday, y'all! I'm posting from Blacksburg today. Since I have the next week off from workshops and class at Elon, I drove up to VT this weekend to visit Kevin and some friends I haven't seen since graduation. It's been awesome and I can't wait to see more people today!

Anyway, today's questions are...

1. What is one item you wish you could splurge on right now?
I've had my eye on a new iPad Mini for a little while. I've been using my dad's old first-generation iPad since he got a Mini a couple Christmases ago, but it's gotten to the point that the software is so outdated that my apps won't update.

2. If you had an entire weekend of no plans, what would you do?
Probably spend it writing and working on some creative pieces I've had to put on the back burner for a while. And lying outside, if the weather is nice.

3. What is the next place you are visiting outside of your current city?
Well, right now I'm in Blacksburg instead of Elon. Outside of Elon, Mom and I are going down to Charlotte to see her family later this week. Outside of North Carolina? I'm not sure. Probably back to Blacksburg later this fall. Or maybe I can squeeze in a visit to Atlanta. That'd be nice.

4. Are you a neat freak or a clutterbug?
Neat freak by a long shot.

5. What's your favorite summer purchase?
Probably the Swarovski crystal Marie figure I bought at the Swarovski store in Vienna earlier this summer. Marie (from The Aristocats) is my favorite Disney animal ever, and when I saw it in the display case, I just had to buy it. Expensive, but definitely worth every Euro.

I'll post more about my weekend adventures in Blacksburg later in the week.

Happy Sunday!

Sunday Social!

Happy Sunday y'all! It's been a rainy weekend here in NC. Yesterday I went to the nearby Tanger Outlets in Mebane and spent a lot too much money on new jeans, shirts and sweaters for the fall. Today I'm driving down to Charlotte to see my grandparents for the day. But before I do that, let's get to this week's Sunday Social questions!

What's one show you'd love to see on Netflix that isn't already there?
I wish Two and a Half Men was on streaming, not just DVD. Boy Meets World would be fun, too. Also wish they'd bring back the Comedy Central Presents series. That was great. Or any of the Blue Collar Comedy films. I've seen them countless times but I still laugh every time.

What's one song you wished was played on the radio more?
I don't know about songs I'd like to hear played more, but I can definitely name a few songs I'd like to hear less often! I swear it seems like every time I turn on the radio, I hear "Rude" or "Stay With Me" or "Am I Wrong."

Your favorite song to sing loudly in the car?
Oh, so many! "Friends in Low Places" is fun, and any Yellowcard song. I will never not roll my windows down and jack the volume up for "Ocean Avenue" or "Miles Apart" or "Always Summer."

What movie/TV show do you quote the most?
I tend to quote movies more than TV shows, but I like to quote The Big Bang Theory a lot, and movies, oh my. Legally Blonde, The Sound of Music, any number of Disney movies. And Mean Girls, obviously.

One silly thing you do daily?
Oh goodness, um...daily? I do everything in the exact same order every day. Wake up, wash face, make coffee, drink coffee, get dressed, fix hair and makeup, make lunch, leave. And if I do any one of those out of order, my morning is automatically messed up. I don't know how silly that is, but I do it.

Happy Sunday!
