Little Known Facts About Me

Sometimes it's fun to re-introduce yourself on your blog, but you've got to make it more interesting each time you do it! Instead of just writing about myself, where I'm from, what college I went to, all that, I thought I would share some some little known facts and stories about myself to spice up the introduction. So here we go...

Tell us about yourself, Kate.

I absolutely abhor tomatoes, seafood, and corn. My mom tells me that I used to love shrimp and fish sticks as a kid. Apparently I grew out of those tastes quickly.

In 5th grade, I won my school's spelling bee. My winning word was "kindergarten."

The only jewelry I wear day in and day out is my watch. I have a silver charm bracelet that I absolutely love, but I don't wear it every single day for fear of losing my precious charms.

I have never watched a single episode of The Office, 30 Rock, or Parks and Recreation. Much to my chagrin, though, I have seen a couple episodes of Community. I find none of them funny.

The first concert I went to was Kenny Chesney and Rascal Flatts in 2005.

My favorite Halloween costume was in 3rd grade, when I dressed up as Sailor Moon. I was an awesome Sailor Moon.

I met former NBA star Dominique Wilkins at an Infiniti car dealership in Atlanta when I was in elementary school. I had to physically look up to speak to him. He was cool.

I did not read the Harry Potter series until my freshman year of college.

I've never had a live Christmas tree. Animals and allergies don't really lend themselves to it, so we've always gone artificial. It is easier to clean up and maintain, though.

Until this summer, I had never been to a beach farther north than North Carolina.

My first drink when I turned 21 was called a "Southern Belle." I got it at Bull & Bones in Blacksburg, and it was some combination of rum, peach schnapps, orange juice, grenadine, and...something fruity. Related: I was part of the college minority that did not drink until I turned 21.

As a child, I hated Barney and Sesame Street. I was much more fond of Disney Channel shows.

One of my last competition dance routines was a jazz dance to "Pretty Fly for a White Guy" by The Offspring. Also danced to Soft Cell's "Tainted Love," The Young Rascals' "Good Lovin'," and Vanessa Carlton's "The Wreckage." My old dance teacher had an eclectic music taste.

My ears are not pierced, and never have been. I don't know why, I just never got it done.

And lastly...three-year-old Kate's favorite thing in the world was Thomas the Tank Engine. I had a vast collection of die-cast trains that I was always willing to show people. Those and my stuffed animals.

Tell us about yourself! What are some little known facts about you?

I still am amazed that you didn't drink before you were 21. My first drink in Blacksburg was at the DKE house the first weekend of freshman year, lol.

I still haven't read the Harry Potter series, so you are doing better than me! I was also part of that minority who didn't drink until turning 21 (except for when I was abroad!) And it sounds like you went to an awesome first concert back in the day! :) These are great random facts!
