...where have I been?

Drowning in a never-ending abyss of work, that's where I've been.

Or at least that's where it feels like I've been.  Taking more than 15 hours this semester, with everything I do away from class, was the biggest mistake ever.  But I had to overload at some point, and I figured now was a good a time as any to tackle it, so I did.  Worst.  Decision.  Ever.

Anyway...let's play some catch-up, why don't we?
My classes are awesome, and I love my professors.  Well, one is questionable, but that's because he's nuts, and I'm convinced he didn't quite make it back from Woodstock.  I have five lecture classes and a portfolio workshop, totaling 17 hours, plus an editing job, playing in the New River Valley Symphony, and trying to become more involved in the VT PRSSA...oh, and trying to have a social life...so basically, I'm crazy!  I have at least 2 papers a week.  Fortunately they're usually not very difficult.  Aside from papers, I'm always reading something, for class or for fun...mostly for class, though.  It's a lot of work, but if I wasn't constantly working, I'd be bored.  But on the flip side, it's almost too much work and it gets to be kind of overwhelming...I can't win, can I?  Oh, the life of a workaholic.

Enough about school.  Let's talk about what college is really about...FOOTBALL!  Virginia Tech is currently 7-1.  Our only loss is to Clemson, who is admittedly on FIRE this year.  I don't think anyone saw that coming.  Last week, VT dismantled Boston College, and this week our victim is Duke (blergh ABD).  I'm predicting another ACC Championship appearance in December, most likely a rematch against Clemson.  By then, Logan Thomas will have settled in and he will have his feet under him.  And with Danny Coale, Jarrett Boykin, David Wilson, and increasingly Marcus Davis to back him up, what do we have to worry about?  GO HOKIES!

One of the highlights of this season thus far has been the Miami game, which took place on October 8.  Holy oh my goodness, that game was insane!!  Miami scored a TD near the end of the 4th quarter, putting them ahead 35-31.  Hokie fans were getting nervous all over the place.  We could NOT lose this game, or else we'd have no shot at the ACC Championship or a bowl appearance.  When we got possession back, we slowly worked our way up the field...key word there is "slowly."  With 0:56 left in the game and less than 20 yards to go, Logan Thomas held on to the ball, found an opening, and went for it.  He ran the ball in for a TD.  Lane Stadium went nuts.

Like this:

Yeah, that's us.  You wish your school had that much spirit.  I totally lost my voice after the game, but it was well worth it!  I cannot wait for our Thursday night game against UNC on November 17.

Speaking of UNC...I also cannot wait for basketball season.  My parents are UNC alumni, and were there during the Michael Jordan years.  Thus, I was born and raised a Tar Heel, and when mid-November rolls around, Carolina Blue blood is running through my veins.  Basketball season is my favourite time of the year.  UNC is taking it all this year.  Just wait.  I have season tickets for VT basketball!  Woo!  And guess who plays in Blacksburg this season?  UNC and Duke--er, Dook!!  I will get to see Tyler Zeller play in person in his final season with UNC, and I hope I will get a chance to shoot Coach K a stink eye.

Ohhh I can't wait.

In the meantime, it's about time for me to get back to making my study guide for my PR midterm on Monday.  My highlight of the week?  I finally got to post on here after a ridiculous long and unintended hiatus.  Thanks for bearing with me!
